About the Forum

The Menai Strait Partnership Forum is a collaborative network supporting the sustainable management of the Menai Strait through shared evidence, partnership working, and community engagement.

About the Forum

The Menai Strait Partnership Forum is a initiative established by the North Wales Rivers Trust and the Menai Strait Fisheries Order Management Association (MSFOMA) with funding from the Welsh Government Coastal Capacity Building Fund.

The Forum aims to ensure that the Menai Strait and its catchment remains climate-resilient for business, recreation, and the environment, not just for today but for future generations.

How we’re driving change

Advocate for improved water quality and ecosystem health

The Forum uses its platform to build public understanding of the pressures facing the Menai Strait. From agricultural run-off to wastewater discharge and to champion nature-based solutions that restore ecological function from source to sea.

Build collaboration and shared stewardship

The Forum brings together residents, regulators, researchers, third-sector organisations, businesses and policymakers who might not otherwise sit at the same table. Through regular meetings, it creates a space for people from different backgrounds to connect, turning shared interest in the Strait into shared responsibility for it.

Connect evidence, science and local knowledge

The Forum draws together research, monitoring data and lived experience into a single, clearer picture of the Strait’s health, ensuring decisions are grounded in both robust evidence and the knowledge of those who know these waters best. This includes a team of citizen scientists, a passive water monitoring programme that collects the largest data set on the Menai Strait, and a partnership with Bangor University on tidal research.

Support sustainable economic and recreational use
